Reef Buffer™ effectively raises reef system pH to a stable 8.3 due to its unique blend of carbonate and bicarbonate salts, unlike competing sodium bicarbonate products. This blend results in a higher pK of 8.6, which is crucial for counteracting the greater production of organic acids in reef environments that tend to lower pH. While Reef Buffer™ also increases carbonate alkalinity, Reef Builder™ or Reef Carbonate™ are better suited for alkalinity supplementation when pH is already optimal.
