Usage & Application

When to Use

• Setting Up New Aquariums: Test source/tap water to determine default mineral hardness before stocking fish.

• Planted & Shrimp Aquariums: Monitor GH to ensure proper moulting in shrimp and healthy growth in live plants.

• Breeding & Species-Specific Care: Adjust water hardness to match soft-water species (like Discus and Tetras) or hard-water species (like African Cichlids and Livebearers).

How to Use

1. Testing GH (General Hardness):

   • Fill a clean test tube with 5 mL of aquarium water.

   • Add GH Test Solution drop by drop, capping and shaking after each drop.

   • Count the drops until the colour changes from orange to green.

   • 1 drop = 1 dGH (17.9 ppm).

2. Testing KH (Carbonate Hardness):

   • Fill a clean test tube with 5 mL of aquarium water.

   • Add KH Test Solution drop by drop, capping and shaking after each drop.

   • Count the drops until the colour changes from blue to yellow.

   • 1 drop = 1 dKH (17.9 ppm).
